End User Licence Terms

Strip Smart — digital publications by The Key Project
Version 1.0 — 18 July 2026

1. Who these terms are between

These licence terms are an agreement between you, the reader, and Ksenia Smirnova-Schenkel, trading as The Key Project, a sole proprietorship (Einzelunternehmen) established in Germany — referred to below as "I" or "the author".

They apply to Strip Smart Vol. 1: The Complete Breakdown Before Your First Shift and to any other digital publication I license under the Strip Smart title, however you bought it and through whichever authorised retailer.

One thing worth knowing about how this works. Your purchase itself is handled by the retailer, which acts as the merchant of record — that is who takes your payment and who handles refunds. The book, though, is licensed to you directly by me, under the terms on this page. Two contracts, two counterparties, one purchase.

2. What you get

When you buy the book, I grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to read and use it, for as long as you like, subject to what's below.

You are buying a licence to read the book — you are not buying the copyright in it. I keep that.

3. What you may do

  • Read it, for your own personal use.
  • Keep it on your own devices — a reasonable number of devices you own or control. Phone, tablet, laptop, e-reader: that's normal use and it's fine.
  • Make copies for your own private use, including backups and format conversions. This is your right under the law and nothing on this page takes it away.
  • Quote short passages, in your own writing, on your own channels, with attribution — name the book and the author.
  • Share a screenshot or a short excerpt on social media, if you credit the source (tag @kay.thekeyproject or link www.thekeyproject.ink) and keep it proportionate — a page here and there, not the substance of a chapter. If you found something useful and want to pass it on, please do. That's not piracy; that's a recommendation, and I'm glad of it.

4. What you may not do

  • Publish it or make it publicly available — no uploading to file-sharing sites, "free ebook" libraries, public cloud folders, or anywhere a stranger can download it.
  • Pass your copy around — no sharing the file in groups, channels, chats, or with a friend who'd rather not pay. One copy, one reader.
  • Sell, resell, rent, lend or otherwise transfer your copy. Reselling an ebook needs the rightsholder's permission, and I'm not giving it. (This isn't me inventing a rule: the Court of Justice of the EU settled it in Tom Kabinet, C-263/18.)
  • Use the text to train machine-learning systems — no training, fine-tuning, embedding or grounding of AI models on this book, in whole or in part, and no generating derivative works from it by automated means.
  • Remove or obscure the copyright notice, my name, or these terms from any copy.

5. Your rights under the law are untouched

Nothing on this page limits or waives any right you have by law, and where anything here would conflict with a mandatory legal right, the law wins.

That includes, in particular, your statutory rights regarding defects in digital content (§§ 327 ff. BGB), which cannot be restricted by agreement (§ 327s BGB), and your right to make private copies (§ 53 UrhG).

Your right of withdrawal is dealt with separately in the Widerrufsbelehrung, not here.

6. If these terms are broken

If you seriously breach this licence — publishing the book, distributing it, reselling it — the licence ends, and I may pursue the remedies available to me under copyright law.

To be clear about proportion: this clause exists for people who upload the book to a piracy site, not for someone who sent a screenshot to a friend. If in doubt, ask me. I'd rather have the conversation.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.

If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you habitually reside apply to you regardless, and nothing here changes that.
